Eligibility Criteria for ERAP

To be eligible for assistance from ERAP, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Residency:

• Applicants must be legal residents of the United States and currently reside in the designated service area.

2. Financial Hardship:

• Applicants must be able to demonstrate a significant financial hardship that has impacted their ability to pay rent or utilities. This could include job loss, reduction in income, medical expenses, or other unforeseen circumstances.

3. Income Limit:

• Applicants must have a total household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income for their specific county or metropolitan area.

4. Rental Arrears:

• Applicants must be in arrears on their rent, facing the risk of eviction, or currently experiencing housing instability.

5. Documentation:

• Applicants must provide the full documentation requested in the application in order to be considered.

6. Not Duplicated Assistance:

• Applicants should not be receiving duplicate rental assistance from other local or federal programs for the same period.

7. Prioritization:

• Priority may be given to households with vulnerable members, such as seniors, individuals with disabilities, or families with young children.

8. Legal Status:

• Applicants must have legal status within the United States, and non-citizens must meet the eligibility criteria as outlined by federal and state regulations.

9. Agreement with Landlord:

• Applicants must provide documentation of communication with their landlord and, if necessary, a willingness of the landlord to participate in the ERAP.

Application Process:

To apply for assistance, eligible individuals must complete the online application form and submit all required documentation. Applications will be reviewed in the order received, and eligible households will be contacted for further processing
